Marc Jacobs Biography - The best for me
Da: http://www.freeinfosociety.com
Marc Jacobs was born on April 9, 1963 in New York City. As a young boy, his grandma, whom he calls his biggest influence, taught him how to knit. Jacobs attended the High School of Art and Design. While in school, he worked as a stock boy at the popular New York boutique, Charivari.
After finishing high school, he continued his education at Parsons School of Design, also in New York City. While attending Parsons, he designed and sold his first line of hand knit sweaters at Charivari. During his time at Parsons, Jacobs won three significant awards. The first was the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award, followed by the Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award, and finally the Design Student of the Year Award, all in 1984.
The first collection that Marc Jacobs designed was for Reuben Thomas, Inc. under the "sketchbook" label. In 1984 he also formed a partnership with Robert Duffy, Jacobs Duffy Designs, Inc., which is still in business today. Two years later, in 1986, backed by Kashiyama USA, Inc., Jacobs designed his first collection bearing the Marc Jacobs label.
In 1987, Jacobs became the youngest designer to receive one of the fashion industry's highest honors: The Council of Fashion Designers of America's (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent.
In 1989, Marc Jacobs and Robert Duffy joined Perry Ellis – Duffy as President and Jacobs as Vice President of Women's Design. In 1992, the CFDA awarded Jacobs The Women's Designer of the Year Award, but after designing a grunge collection for Perry Ellis, he was immediately dismissed.
Currently, Marc Jacobs is serving as Artistic Director of the Louis Vuitton fashion house, where he has been since 1998. He created the company's first Ready To Wear line, and also collaborated on the popular Louis Vuitton graffiti bags. He also designs his own clothing lines, the upscale Marc Jacobs and the lower priced Marc by Marc Jacobs collection.
Nicknamed the Guru of Grunge by Women's Wear Daily, Jacobs' signature looks include bright colors, layered looks, empire lines, rugby stripes, and oversize prints, bows and buttons. He has never been afraid to push the envelope, and go against the crowd. "I love that reaction of love or hate. It's indifference that bores me to death."
Popular celebrities who flock to Marc Jacobs include Winona Ryder, Uma Thurman, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Sophia Coppola, and Scarlett Johansson. Jacobs is friends with numerous of these women, and names many of the purses in his handbag collection after them.
Jacobs currently divides his time between Paris, France and New York City. He is Jewish and openly gay.

Tante cose nuove
